An excellent map here from a highly renouned developer . Definately worth the download. No but seriously, its a pretty cool map. You start off in this big base & have to defend it from all these attackers. Check it out. is IS pretty cool.
BTW Its also for WA but I put it in the DC section so it'd get more downloads So dont disappoint me & download this NOW!!!

This 8/6 Player Winter Assault / Dark Crusade map is based on the capital planet in a Planetary Sector.
Following the invasion of a large force of combined Xenos races, the resident PDF (Planetary Defence Force) mounted a fierce & brave defence.
However, the enemy forces were too large to hold back, no matter how brave the PDF was. in the early days of the War, the PDF inflicted massive casualties in the enemy forces, while also sustaining massive losses themselves.
Their efforts were not entirely in vain, as an Imperial Regiment in a neighbouring sector soon came to their aid. They were promised huge reinforcements as this sector was a valuable asset to the Imperium, controling routes to & from many industrial centres.
Also, because of the presence of a Space Marine Tthunderhawk refuelling depot in the Bunker Complex itself, the Adeptus Astartes rapidly deployed a Space Marine Chapter to aid in its defence.
However, due to an incoming Warp Storm, further Imperial Reinforcements were forced to turn back & now the whole Sector is cut off from the Imperium, & any hopes of further aid.
The PDF, Space Marines & the Imperial Guard regiment then withdrew to Bunker 149 & prepared for a long & bloody defence of the Bunker Complex & the planet itself. They hoped to hold out against the invaders & wait out the Warp Storm for further reinforcements.
They can only wait & pray... Pray for the Emperor's protection... & they will need it.
The map contains a large Bunker which you must defend from Heretic & Xenos scum for the Glory of the Emperor.
Outside the Bunker Complex theres a River with a Bridge crossing it. This was the scene of an earlier battle, which you (sadly) lost. Accross the river lies the enemy bases.
There is only 1 entrance to the Bunker Complex & I'd recommend setting up your defences there ASAP, as the enemy is a big fan of rushing!
You & 2 allies start in the Bunker & must prepare to defend it from the waves of enemy attacks & then prepare a counter-attack to reclaim the Planet in the name of the Emperor.
You Must Not Fail!
To play as 8Player:
Set P1,2&3 to the same team (eg. Team 1) & players 4,5,6,7&8 to their own team (eg. Team2) & you've got yourself a 3v5 defence map. This way is challenging & I'd recommend setting the difficulty to easy at most if you really wanna win.
To play as 6Player:
Set P1,2&3 to Team 1 & P6,7&8 to Team two & you've got yourself a 3v3 defence map. This is easier than the 8Player way above & is recommended for less-skilled players, like me =) !

Extract to: "C:\Program Files\THQ\Dawn Of War\WXP\Data\Scenarios\MP"
For Dark Crusade:
Extract to: "C:\Program Files\THQ\Dawn of War - Dark Crusade\DXP2\Data\Scenarios\MP"
This game was tested with DC.
This map was inspired by another map of mine, Bunker 135. Check it out. its pretty cool.
I'm a big Imperium fan & as a result most (if not all) of my maps are for Imperial Players.
However, if you are a fan of Heretics/Xenos, FEAR NOT! To play this map as an assault map (where you & the other Heretics/Xenos are attacking the Bunker) simply open up this map with the WA RDN Tools & Player1's Starting Position to the opposite side & move one of P 4,5,6,7,8's S.P.'s into the Bunker & Voila! You got yourself an assault map! Ingenious, eh?
Now the legal stuff:
You may edit this map for personal use, but you may NOT resubmit it (in any form), stick it into any mods &/or claim it as your own.
If you wish to edit/modify it in any way (including adding it to mods) & then upload/redistribute it, you must first obtain my consentual permission & include this readme &/or give me credit for creating it.

It was crazy at first when they spammed inside the gates. That fight lasted forever until we got vehicles of course. Then we moved out and whenever they saw my army they ran for the river.

To #6: Yeah, that probably was my best ever map. Really hard to beat though. (for me anyway)
To #11: Yeah, my friend was testin it out for me & he was Guard with SM & Tau against Chaos Orks, Eldar & 'Crons & he had an Epic hour-long battle where all the action was in the entrance. in the hour he probably gained like 1 foot of ground with literally 1000's of casualties! You couldnt distinguish the dead bodies from the living! it was mental!!!
Eventually I kicked him off after the hour because I was bored with watching & he couldda been on all night.

anyway...GREAT MAP! i always used to make maps in age of empires 2 where i was defending a massive cliff fortress against unlimited hordes of barbarians, or in a massive castle with loads of siege weapons causing mass destruction to the enemies outside. i never won these (as the enemy were unlimited, they were designed just to have fun with), so my hopes aren't high for the 8 player version of this, lol. downloading now! 10/10 my favourite type of map!  |

#31: yeah sometimes it is anoyin when the allied AI builds buildings on front of the ramps but it doesnt happen too frequently. just tell a basilisk/ other tank/artillery unit to attack ground on it & eventually it'll go away

But if you've the RDN Tools v1.41 for WA you can edit it yourself & make whatever changes you want. just dont reupload it without my permission (read the disclaimer).

Just remember to backup the *mapname*_mm & *mapname*_icon files as they're custom & will get saved over if you save the edited file as the same name. just save them over the new ones created & enjoy. |

MAP IS SO DAMN SMALL!!!!!!! it drives me crazy when ur allies build everywhere due to little space.

I put in those boxes & habblocks & Thunderhawk LZ just to create a bit of detail, as it looked VERY plain without them. But they do look good, dont they?
& the maps actually 256 x 512, LOL! Now that I think abt it it should really be bigger... But then again I didnt think it'd be so popular! Over 2000 downloads, WOOHOO! Thanks guys for downloading it & for the (mostly) positive comments. |

Capt_PooFace From: Joined: May 10th, 2006 Posts: 85 | im just posting this, i know this isnt the right spot, but the longest game i played was 3 and 1/2 hours. it was me and a friend on castle defenders, 2 tau against 5 eldar on harder, i had about 4000 casualties alone cause i had 5 kroot barracks constantly building and sending troops into battle while my friend fought "meter by bloody meter" to eventually get to thier base. i hade somethin like 5000 kills and my friend hade around 7000. it was quite possibly the longest game i have ever played in any game. INSANE |

sergent_killa From: (liverpool) Joined: December 26th, 2005 Posts: 478 | congrats on 3000 downloads ! i downloaded a few days ago, and me and my 2 m8s did a hard comp stomp survival, (5 orks) they rushed (duh) but we held entrance, i spammed heavys, 1 of mi m8s spammed sluggaz and my other m8 teched for monolith. but it was a blood bath! we managed 2 get 2 the brige at one point but were pushed back! we made another break thru, but was squashed again! it tooks us 5-6 hours 2 win! I LOVE IT MASKE A V2!!! (please a bit like casle roulstine for WA? ) |

I have encountered a problem. A Baneblade can't get out of the bunker. It can't get past the barbed wire/etc around the critical location. I took a screenie and uploaded it here: http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c121/Yuri2005/Banebladestuck.jpg
Please don't think I'm having a go, I love the map, it's just a shame to have to build your Mars command outside the fortress to use the 'Blade.

To Sutoth: Yes its for the Guard mostly, with 1 SM player. That is a shame. I know a Land Raider can get through (the AI can get it through anyway), but i've never really lasted long enough to attempt to get a Baneblade through.
I recommend opening it with WA v1.41 RDN map editor & rectifying the problem, for your own personal use that is. It may not be redistributed in edited form.
& does anyone else get the pink ground like him? I certainly dont... |

( advise that u get a few turrets there) then ur bane can roll out with the rest of the army. thats what i did, works like a charm. and no, i dont get pink ground like him... maby his details are wrong? |
Sutoth Joined: January 19th, 2007 Posts: 3 | Heh, ok, the pink ground was because I had only the map file installed, not the other ones. So I had no minimap or anything. I've rectified this now.
As for modifying it myself, I have no idea how. I just thought you might like to know for people like me who enjoy rping the fortress under seige, in which case you wouldn't have a base outside, as the men would get slaughtered.
Beyond this it is a truly beautiful map which I enjoy playing as any race.

Only 2 problems though: Limited movement and build space. Sure, it's annoying, but its only a tiny flaw in an awe - inspiring map. NICE WORK 
With regards to the Baneblade probs, the best method if u just want it on the front line is to build the mars pattern command outside the bunker but as close as you can to the wall, get ur Baneblade, drive it in through the front and turn it around. Hope that helps |

Just open the map file in the Map Editor & drag Player1's Starting Position to wherever you want & then move the Starting positions around to suit yourself & then save it & then voila! You got yourself an assault map!
Just remember to read my disclaimer & copyright notes in the readme.

chrisgold From: (windermere) Joined: January 25th, 2007 Posts: 165 | personally i would give the map a 20/10 its soo good i have played it for ages with every race exept necrons, and i only won with space marines because i deepstriked servitors over the walls and build an attack force and whopped the enemy. the only problem was the AI they built their buildings and blocked my land raider and preds. the imperial guard kept building mechanised commands which took up all the space but the hammer of the almighty emperor destroyed the zenos scum |

IF it said it extracted completely then I dont know, as long as the filepath is correct (which it is in the readme). IT should be there in-game. Go into the filepath yourself & check all the .tga & .sgb files are there. |

Anyway, the bunker is too small, Our team's Army didn't fit to make a full assault on the enemy, so we had to make a forward base outside the bunker haha and from there we massed up an army! The match took 2hrs!!!! anyway it was fun and I loved it.
I don't know much about the DoW Mad Editor, so I can't make the bunker bigger myself plus the squiggoth and Baneblade can't get thru the bunker exit lol.

I never found that problem out when testing the map, but then again I never got out of the bunker because i played on hard with 5 enemies. The Land Raider can get out though. So at least you can have some firepower. & there are good places on your side of the river to the left & right of the bridge to build forward bases. Except the enemy always builds loads of turrets either side. Damn enemy...
#103: Im not really sure. I'd like to go out on a high with this map as it is by far my best (by the dwnloads anyway, nearly 20,000!!! & over a month in the download charts). And I also dont have much free time anymore what with being Site Manager & having a real life too. So I'm not too sure. But then again this map came from me sitting on front of the comp one day & figuring out a way to reduce my boredom, I hadn't thaught it through when I started making the map, I just started to map & voila! Here you have it. The most downloaded map on DoWFiles (to my knowledge anyway). so you never really know...

Wez: Dont loose the cool. Youre supposed to use the sides for tanks & relic units, thats why I put them in. The Bridge is primarily designed as a chokepoint to keep the enemy at bay & attempt to outflank them using the sides, thats why theres loads of rubble & burned-out wrecks & craters.
Space 197: Ok. When you download the .zip file to wherever on your comp, Right-Click on it & click "Extract to" or "Extract with Winzip" or some variant of that & just type in the Filepath provided in the readme (above) for which game its for. Simple. If you dont have Winzip I suggest googling Winzip download or even Winrar, thats very useful. |

As for your map, it's pretty good. A neat concept. I give it an 8/10 while looking at the screenshots. (my rating does not matter when it comes to this map, since people will look at the download count and consider that a rating in itself). Oh yeah you need to fix the minimap too : P |

It really makes a great battle though so I will give it my stamp of approval. It's pretty balanced as a 3vs 3 game and having the extra two slots makes for a challenge if you want to up the difficulty.
This map would completely rock if you'd spent another day on the decals and details. The area past the river is all pretty much too similar.
about the featured map subject.
Theres a lot of great new mapping going on. Theres a whole new crew of mappers coming up with DC. I just think having the same files featured or fotw for too long makes it seem like a dead mapping scene where no one is making new stuff.

{by the way i like imperium just not enough i hate ultramarines but i like IGs}

My only issues are the size of the bunker, the plainess of the map itself, and the relic unit problems.
And maybe make the central area before the river a bit bigger, with like pillboxes or something. I mean I don't know about you, but with such an open space I'd have some sort of defensive emplacement to thin the enemy out before they got to the bunker. Just a thought.
Played a 2hr game against Eldar, imagine having 3 Avy's coming at you in a row, and then 5 minutes later 2 more!! And Orks....don't get me started on Orks.....if I have to kill ONE MORE I'm going to snap!

Well the gate became a hole of death lol, Tau troops on the wall with heavy fire behind the sandbags from those troops that dig there legs into the ground ,forgot the name soz , the IG guys just running in making a mess......got so bad that the PC crashed because of this. I've looked at the comments for this problem and for one you said "Just make the folders" Well I did, and it didn't work. Also, I have 3 DoW folders. Dawn of War, Dark Crusade, and Dawn of war - Dark Crusade. All my downloads that I have gotten so far I've put in the Dark Crusade folder. I need help, please, some one tell me how to do this step-by-step. I reaaaaaly want to play this map . Greatly Appriciated. |

Go to the folder: C: /Program Files/THQ/Dawn of War - Dark Crusade
Open the folder. Do you see the DXP2 folder? Open that one too.
Do you see a Data folder? If yes, open it. If not, create a folder called Data & then open the new folder.
Do you see a Scenarios folder? If yes, open it. If not, create a folder called Scenarios & then open the new folder.
Do you see a MP folder? If yes, open it. If not, create a folder called MP & open the new folder.
Now use Winzip (or Winrar or any other extraction program) to extract the files that you downloaded in the Bunker_149.zip folder to the MP folder you just found/created.
Then start up DC & enjoy the map! |
