Dawnofwar.de Mappack (#1) - File Description  


Description:
This is the installer of the Dawnofwar.de Mappack #1 for Dawn of War: Winter Assault.

    This Mappack includes 5 awesome 1on1 maps:
  • Temple of Sacrifices (2) version 1.6 by D43THN1GHT
  • Jungle Morning (2) version 2.6 by Listoric
  • Short Below Zero (2) version 1.3 by Listoric
  • Dicey Ambush (2) version 1.2 by ]v[4TR!X
  • Operation Jungle Assault (2) version 1.6 by ]v[4TR!X


All 5 maps are high quality and are at least on automatch map standard. Competitive, fast, fresh, fun.

A must have for all Dawn of War fans!

Posts: 107 		good job on the maps they look really cool! the only thing is that it would be nice if they werent all 2 player maps, but mixed. also its kinda weird how you have to extract the files and then download them all. otherwise the maps seem sweet!cool good job once again!!!

Posts: 136 		2 player maps mean that you dont have allies to distract your enmies with and your enemys entire army can attack you at once without having to worry about being attacked by your allies and vice versa

We focused on 2 player maps in this one, after we already had some great maps and improved them, but this won't be the last mappack from Dow.de and the next mappack is going to be more of a 2on2 map, so stay tuned. cool

Posts: 6 		Maps are very nice. Definately something I like in each one of them and I do prefer deathmatches wih my opponents, without any unwanted distraction.

So a plus for that.

Now what I didn't like, nay, what I hated was the installer.
Does it look cool? Yes.
Is it doing it's job properly? Well, kinda.

It extracts the files allright, but not everyone has DoW installed at the default location of Cstick out tonguerogram FilesTHQDawn of War. This is aspecially true about modders like my humble self.

Furthermore, it installs things in wrong place anyway. It shouldn't be:

Cstick out tonguerogram FilesTHQDawn of WarWXPwXPDatascenariosmp and
Cstick out tonguerogram FilesTHQDawn of WarWXPwXPDatasound
but:
Cstick out tonguerogram FilesTHQDawn of WarWXPDatascenariosmp and
Cstick out tonguerogram FilesTHQDawn of WarWXPDatasound

You don't need those extra wXP folder right in the middle of the path.

The option to choose instal location wouldn't be hard to put into the next release and I hope you will at the very least consider correcting the fauly paths.

Posts: 25 		yes, thx for the critics. we wanted it to be as easy as possible to install, but sometimes isn't easy the easiest way as it seems. if you installed Dow correctly, it will work perfect, if not, then it might come out different, that's true.

we definitely will have it with a selectable install location in #2, thx for your help and criticism. Two Thumbs Up!
