Pdf Mod Version 1.0
This is a full race mod which uses existing models but in a way that gives a new
dynamic to the imperial guard race. The army is split between ground holding elements - bunkers, mines and heavy weapons teams, and scouting/ attack units - sentinels, command squad and commissars.
Most the structures and abilities involve the use of violent explosions to simulate snares and the chance of these explosions occuring is very high.
This means buildings should be placed with good spacing and wounded sentinels should be kept away from the base and the bases of your allies. There is a 100% chance that Sentinels will explode violently, including a 0.5% chance that Sentinels will explode catastrophically - on testing this is capable of wiping out the whole base if the sentinel is placed correctly!
You can customize your Sentinels with Autocannon, heavy flamer or multilaser. All sentinels can also use the Hunter Killer Missile ability, these can be krak (for vehicles and buildings) or frag (for large groups of enemy infantry).
Your Guard units can detect infiltrators at extremely short distances, they must be almost touching. The use of the Commissar and Colonel's Detector Flares is paramount as these will detect nearby infiltrators.
There are 6 different bunkers which all produce Bunker Guard Squads and Commissars. These bunkers face in different directions, use those that suit the facing of your base (4 of these have the same in game icon and so you need to select them to see which way they will face when placed).

-This mod uses the imperial guard race in a different way. The dynamics are based on using
bunkers and mines to consolidate positions, detection flares to clear fog of war and Sentinels
as the main attack unit. Many of the units and buildings are packed with explosives and utilise their
death explosions to make the enemy pay for every inch of ground they take.
-This mod is compatible with Dark Crusade and Soulstorm, you can choose in which version
you wish to install it (or do both).
-There is no AI for this new race, I would welcome anyone to create it.
Installation:
-The downloadable file 'PdfMod1.exe' is a setup file which installs the module file (pdf_Mod1)
and the data folders (the root folder is called pdf_Mod1).
-Once downloaded, doubleclick on PdfMod1.exe to run the setup file
-The setup file will ask you where you wish to install the mod files, the default folder is
C:Program FilesTHQDawn of War - Soulstorm
-But you must ensure that the mod files are installed in whichever folder your own DarkCrusade.exe or Soulstorm.exe
file exists (if different from the above).
Playing the New Race:
-Once the setup is complete, open up Darkcrusade.exe or Soulstorm.exe, select 'Game Manager' and then select
'Pdf_Mod1'. The game will then restart with this Mod loaded.
-When playing skirmishes, choose the 'Pdf Race' to play this race.
Pdf Race:
- Commissars and 'The Colonel' can place detector flares, these can detect infiltrators and explode violently if destroyed.
-Sentinels can have autocannons, multilaser or heavy flamer.
-Sentinels can use Hunter Killer Missiles - krak vs vehicles, frag vs infantry.
-Sentinels are packed with explosives and explode violently when destroyed, excellent for suicide missions.
-There is a 0.5% chance that sentinels will explode in a catastrophic way, this can wipe out enemy bases in one event.
-Oil wells produce power, these are also explosive!
-The Hq Bunker produces requisition.
-There are a variety of bunkers with different facings to suit the positions the army are holding.
-Bunkers produce Bunker Guard Squads and Commissars.
-Bunker Squads are stationary, have higher health than normal guard squads and can upgrade to use special weapons.
-Heavy Weapons teams are available with heavy bolters when entrenched.
-Very few of the units can detect infiltrators so it is important to use the detector flares, these have high health
but you can manually destroy them to inflict damage on near-by enemies or wait until they are destroyed by enemy attacks.
The Front End:
-The frontend should display colonel Brom when using this race, if in Soulstorm this character is not displayed
I have displayed an alternate 'frontendmodels.lua' file in the following location:
C:~pdf_Mod1Datass frontend
-Swap this .lua file with that of the same name in the data folder (one folder up from the 'ss frontend' folder).
-Restart the game and the character should be displayed correctly.

stevo2 Joined: May 12th, 2010 Posts: 11 | If this file requests that you browse for a program to open it please give the file the '.exe' extension and it will work correctly, I just tested a download and the file did not have the extension.
The filename must be: pdfmod1.exe (not just 'pdfmod1') |

I used the auto downloader thingy and after it said it was done there no icon for the addon and when I went into soulstorm the game manager said the addon didn't exist... |
