This is Ravenmorpheus Wargear Mod for Soulstorm.
I decided to upload it because people asked for it and it is nowhere to be found anymore.
Ravenmorpheus intended to upload it, but apparently real-life has interfered with his intentions.
Please also note:
The Ravenmorpheus mod also requires the Dawn of War Advanced AI Skirmish mod, by Thudmeizer and his team.
The mod is compatible with Soulstorm 1.2 and the latest Skirmish AI 3.2.
I tested personally and it worked just fine.
Activating this mod will automatically invoke the skirmish AI also.

Ok so I've been working on a mod which adds the wargear items to Soulstorms Skirmish/Multiplayer mode, the major parts are now complete and I felt I have reached the point where I could move the thread to here from the mods in progress sub-forum.

First off I want to state that - The AI uses the wargear in the campaign as if it was a skirmish game, i.e. it builds the wargear in the same way as you would in a skirmish game.
But you can't build the wargear, you have to earn it in the usual way. If you don't want the AI to do this in the campaign then don't use the wargear mod when playing the campaign.

The mod has all races wargear items for each commander available in the vanilla campaign. The wargear is the same wargear you can earn in the campaign.
Also the same wargear is used by the AI - they will build the researches although it takes a while and you may not often see the AI using the wargear, but they do use it

Any feedback on the requirements/balance would be appreciated.
If there's something that I've missed that's not working please post here so that I can amend the mod.
So, double click on the .exe file.
Please take the time to read the text screens on the installer - some very important info is there
It should install in the correct paths but you can change the install path if you need to and then you just select the mod from the game manager (or setup a shortcut).
Note: This has only been tested with vanilla DoW SS, not with anyone elses mods.
Please also note that the mod also requires the Dawn of War Advanced AI mod, by Thudmeizer and his team, which can and will need to be downloaded from here
Please also note that I am not responsible for the Heroes mod and any questions relating to issues with that mod should be directed at the relevant mod team, however I am unaware of any issues in the Heroes mod that impact on the use of this mod.
The same goes for the DoW Skirmish (Advanced AI) AI mod, unless the issue is with the AI use of the wargear.

I have a couple of bits of "tidy up" to do-
The icons need something doing to them to stop them moving around so much (if anyone has any advice on that I would be very grateful as I've tried assigning UI positions to them and this hasn't really helped)
The text on the UI needs tidying up - I used Relics UCS text entries but even they are not perfect...
And lastly the Icons may need re-doing depending on the general opinion of people who use the mod - I think they look ok, but any feedback would be appreciated.
If you want to fit this mod into your own mod and release it publicly please ask first. Also if you wish to test it to see if it works with a publicly released mod (or one that is about to be released publicly) please let me know, especially if it doesn't work with said mod

in normal (unmodded) campaign you, nor the AI can research wargear. The player has to earn his wargear and the AI is given wargear when the campaign progresses.
but if you install this mod the AI is able to research any wargear in the campaign too. So you might encounter AI commanders with wargear you would normally not see in certain stages of the campaign. But you the human player will have to earn wargear just like you used to.
There was nothing Ravenmorpheus could do to prevent this at the time when he created this mod.
I personally think this mod ads very much fun to skirmish games. You get extra wargear research options for the commander of all 9 races and you will see your commander wearing and using this wargear too. I think this should have been incorporated in skirmish from the start. It gives more personality and taste to the commander in skirmish. |
