Slightly Fluffier (v1) - File Description  

Slightly_Fluffier 1.0

Modifies Dawn of War 1.41, is compatable with Dawn of War 1.4 through 1.51. It is not compatable with Winter Assault.

To install this mod, simply extract the files to your Dawn of War folder. With standard install, this will be C:Program FilesTHQDawn of War...

Use the mod by opening Dawn of War, choosing "Game Manager" from the start screen, and selecting Slightly_Fluffier from the list of available versions.

This mod has not yet been tested in multiplayer.


What have I done?!

This mod attempts to make Dawn of War slightly fluffier without changing the balance significantly.

-Space Marines and Chaos Marines are now twice as powerful, twice as expensive, and half as numerous. This goes for all upgrades aswell.
-Space Marine and Chaos Marine heros and squad leaders are buffed.
-Farseer and Guardians are buffed slightly.
-Slugga and Shoota boyz are now slightly less expensive (30 from 35) and slightly faster to build (4.5 seconds from 5 seconds). They start with 5 (up from 4), and have a maximum of 16 (up from 15).
-Walkers now use 4 cap. Several other vehicles have had their cap requirements increased by 1.

meh, not worth downloadin really, and not compatible with wa? Y hav u not got it?
this mod is just the movie marines mod, with a bit more basically.

I love the idea! I always thought this is what should be done. relic seems to think that the marines should be weaker to make them balanced even thow that kills their fluffyness. make them expensive, few and powerfull Rock . me downloadin now.

and personally a vanila DoW version is refreshing. DoW is better balanced and better in general than WA IMO and is really where relic needs to go back to.

Reaper, I have Winter Assault, and have had it for quite some time. However, I greatly prefer Dawn of War's style of gameplay, and its balance, so I made my mod for it.

I hadn't heard of the Movie Marines mod before this, but looking at it, it is obvious that the author hasn't touched the Chaos forces yet, which essentially means that it accomplishes half of what this does.

Regardless, if you don't care about playing the game in a more fluffy manner, or if you would rather play Winter Assault, you are right: there's no reason to download it.

it comes with 2 instead of 4 members and each additional member is 100 instead of 50 and squad doesnt go up to 8.

also because marines and chaos squads are half size that means the orks actually outnumber them cool .

havent goten to eldar yet but so far orks, Space marines, and chaos are a blast to play as. no longer are marines buffed guardens with upgrades but actuall hard a$$es like they should be. same for chaos also. the extra pop cost on vehicals keeps the focus on troops like it should be. also the health boost means that apothocarys are needed for any reasonable healing time but don't make a force immortal.

I love this mod the more I play it. the marines (chaos marines also) now really feel valueble as they are few in number hit hard and cost alot to loose.

its the small things that make the bigest impact on a game.

to Feil : once I finish checken out the eldar I'll send ya my thoughts. already got my waaaagh, chaos crazys, and For The Emperors on. now just for the (not eldar player much so insert random mystical eldar phrase).

I'm glad that someone likes the original DOW more than WA. I've played WA, and I just think the expansion just does not play as well as the original. Good on you.big grin

much agreed, the gameplay does seem to be going down hill, for example the librarian in the demo for DC seems to be about as powerful as an ig psyker, and they get three of em. now hopefully that was just a modification for demo purposes because if it's permanent i'd just like to say: AARRRGGGG!!!! RELICC!!!!! AAARRRGGGGG!!!!!

anyway, good mod, maybe a little late but well done.

well I like the idea of making marines chaos or otherwise more expensive and tougher, having an overall squad size of five is as unfluffty as you can get!

marines can have and should have squads of 10 and chaos are far more flexable getting squads of up to 15-20 psychopaths running around.

kudos of the idea of making em tougher and more expensive your on the right path there but smaller squad sizes? nope ya messed up big time on that one.

if you want orks outnumbering marines to make it alot more like the table top game you need to make the squads alot larger then 16 orks, sluggahs getting around 20-30 would be about what you would see in the table top game, and theres your balance.

great idea glad people are still working on dow but a name change to this mod might be in order/

Nice effort, but I just don't play DoW without the first expansion.
I know some people prefer the vanilla DoW, but I like the IG.
