Easy Rider Mod V0.01
by Mudflap, Zany_Reaper, and Bennyball
http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/nurglings/

Get ready to fire all your guns at once and explode into space. The Easy Rider minimod is here.
This minimod adds bikes to your Space Marine Army. This mod only works in Winter Assault.

Mod Installation:

To install the mod, unzip the files into your Dawn of War folder.

The files will unzip into a folder called "Easy_Rider_Mod"
All the files, except the one needed to start the mod and this readme, will unzip into this folder and have been
designed not to affect your core W40K or WXP files.

After you unzip the mod, start Winter Assault and select "Easy Rider Mod" from the Game Manager.

This will start the mod.

Go to the Army Painter and select the teamcolor and badge for your Bikes. Then go to skirmish mode and start a skirmish. Play a Space Marine army.

The Space Marine Bikes can be spawned from the Machine Cult only.

Once they are on the battlefield they are armed with twin-linked bolters for ranged combat and chainswords for close combat,
you can upgrade them with the following weapons:
1) Heavy Bolter Sidecar
2) Multi-Melta Sidecar
3) Plasma Gun
4) Bolt Pistol
5) Smoke Launchers are enabled (and appear on the sidecar when Smoke Launchers are researched at the Machine Cult)
6) Frag Grenades when they are researched at the Chapel Barracks
7) Melta Bombs when they are researched at the Chapel Barracks

The squad can also be upgraded with a Sergeant Bike. The Sergeant can be upgraded as follows by researches at the Armory:
1) Power Sword
2) Power Fist

The Bikes have a special ability called "Burnout". This works just like the Librarian ability "Smite".

Since this is the Easy Rider mod, the Bikes are also equipped with a radio so they can play road music (Born to be Wild of course)
(This works best if the game music is turned down). Just paste any .fda file into the
Dawn of War\Easy_Rider_Mod\Data\Sound\speech\races\space_marines\bike\ability\radio folder and it will be part of
the random selection of songs that play when the "Channel the Ancient Soul of the Motorbike Machine Spirit" is activated.
.fda files can be created using the AudioEditor.exe in the Modtools.

Have fun.

The contents of this mod (with the exception of the copyrighted samples) can be used by others for any non-commercial purpose with the caveat that appropriate credit be given to
Mudflap, Zany_Reaper, and Bennyball.

Very impressive. Like the Radio idea, and the bikes in general are amazing. Just curious, is this compatible with Midnightshift? I saw the lights in the picture and thought they might...

I like everything about this mod.........except the effects for the multimelta it looks to much like a flamer compilers would have been a better one to use as its more fluffy. I'm sure if you asked him he would allow you to use it. RockRockRock

The melta effect could be better. To me (no offence) it looks like a line of vomit.

I personally am very proud of you Mudflap, in contrast to what you got on the Nurglings.

This seems to have even beat ratings compared to the Battle Fortress mod I was involved in! I'm gonna check this out after I finish my final exam, & the Ork Dreadnought codex edition.

The picture of the marine smashing the front tire of his bike into the Ork's face is awesome and yeah the melta effect looks wierd. It looks like it should be renamed a vomit blaster, chunder cannon, or a chuck shooter. wink

Ok I just had a quick go and whilst it was great there are some serious balance issues and other things I think you need to change.

Here are my suggestions (You don't have to listen but I think they would make the mod a lot better: -

- 6 bikes is way to many I think it should be reduced to more like 3 (including the sergeant), in my opinion having 6 clutters space and they get in each others way.

- The bikes need to be quicker in my opinion (I know if you make them ridiculously fast there gonna charge across the battlefield but at the moment they move way to slow for bikes.

- Close combat on the bikes is way to strong against buildings. They destroyed a HQ in no time.

I haven't properly used them yet but I will have a longer go and look at more balancing issues later on.

Hope this helps.

You think a quad post is a lot? I did a nontouple (yes, that's 9 in a row) post on that "Commander Shadowsun: Hot or Not (or cookies)?" poll! Is there a way to see previous polls? I want to see if anyone saw it and replied.

ONTOPIC: Nice bikes, guys, but I have a rule: if it's just a single unit, then I don't download. You should put it in the Left-Out Units mod, that'd be cool, having an armada of bikes storm the enemy base...

Not a bad mod. Good work! But I thought it was weird that you could upload the bikes to the orbital relay and deepstrike them.

I allways thought that attack bikes were fast attack units like land speeders not heavy infantry they can't even outrun mega-armored nobs in the mod (not kidding) o_O'

models are really impressive but the bikes are just too damm slow it would be better incorporated into another mod.

p.s. a chaplain on a bike would be really good

No No No! #33, i really must protest!
A chaplain? They are all close combat, i doubt a bike would help!
(However it would be cool, especially with a kill sync for Bloodthirster)
But, a truly good idea are Orks! THEY ARE SPEED FREAKS!
By the Emperor forgive my Radical thinking but thay would be so
eek!ing' nice!
We's da fastes' an' da Meanest dere' is!
Mod looks awesome Two Thumbs Up! Rock

I agree they need to be faster and a chaplain would be hot he could be on foot but given the ability to radio a teammate and have a scout drive a his bike to him in battle then he colud get off and onto foot the scout could be in the sidecar so he could just drive it away

There should be Chaos bikes. I also think the Eldar should ride Harley Davidsons and wear biker helmets. We all know how cool and tough the Eldar are.

My savouir, u dont know how long i have waited for these, all the mods that say they are making the game closer to the codex, they only think they are, vindicatirs dont always have big plow/sheild things on and razorbacks twin weapon is connected, they can just use the twin heavy bolter model from the land raider, but they have 2 base in on the whirlwind dont they. But now we have bikes, i love you,you r the one making this game better, not the mods that claim they are, they forgot the f***ing bikes.

ps. im not gay, neither am i bi. I just like you alot

Hi Folks

Thanks for all the comments and nice ratings. 1600 downloads + and still a 9.4 ratings. I am glad most folks liked the radio idea. I tried to make the icon a bit inconspicious so it wouldn't put off the gregorian chant purists too much.

Faster huh? OK. They go 22 and marines go 16. But I agree, maybe faster would be better. I am now going to make a file to make this easy for other mods to get the bikes in. Maybe in those versions they will make the bikes faster and improve the balance a bit.

I also want to do a chaplain version. There are tons of Games Workshop pics of chaplains on bikes.

Chaos version should be easy too.

Cheers,

Mudflap

I'm so proud of myself for being the first person to say 'they need to be faster' big grin

Although I hate to repeat myself, it seems that my suggestion to put the next version of the bikes into the next version of the Left-Out Units mod was somewhat overlooked. This and that are both great mods (or addons) and combined they'd be UNSTOPPABLE Rock !!!!!!11!1!!11!!1!!!! So, consider it, and I'm sure the Left-Out Units mod'd be happy to put them in (if you wanted to put them in it... which I think you should [and many others probably do]).

Yeah #2 but I always found the left out units mod to be full of annoying bugs. I think it would bring the standard of this mod down a little if it was included.

Cool. The only squad available from the machine cult.
Whats the maximum number in one squad? What I think would be cool is if each bike came out seperatly and you can choose to put them into squads. Like the apoths and force commanders, then you coul have all you bikers in one squad. Sweeeet.

Frickin' awsome! However, it sorta reverts to DoW, not WA. No guard AI, 5 cap unlimited land raiders, no chaplains etc etc. And how do you use the mod tools to convert to .fda files? Otherwise, KICKASS!Rock

PS: The melta I think is quite cool. Chaos guy: before - Devil!, after: Aaargh!!!. they get OWNT!

Hi Folks,

I have posted a thread on Relicnews that has links to the source files for the Space Marine Bikes. They should make it easy for any mod to get the bikes in even if they don't have access to 3dsmax. 3dsmax files are also included for anyone who wants to make major changes or use the Bike model as a basis for a new model. You have the mod team's permission to use the files for any non-commercial purpose. Just make sure you give proper credit to Mudflap, Zany_Reaper, and Bennyball in your mod/content readme.

Here is the link to the Source Files thread:

Cheers,

Mudflap

the mod seems to revert the game to dawn of war, i.e worse explosions, servitors cost squad cap, no additional units (i.e chaplin). otherwise, Gr8 mod!

hey this mod looks mint, but for some reason i cant get it to open in the game manager. i've extracted the easy rider folder to Estick out tonguerogram FilesTHQDawn Of War so its sitting in the same folder as the rest of the mods i've got. Has anyone got any ideas as to how to get it working just i'm a bit desperate to get playing on this? could it be that i've got the wrong version of DOWWA running? cheers in advance to anyone that can help.

Some people have noticed that this mod disables some Winter Assault Stuff. This can be fixed as follows (Thanks Stevocarty!)

Open the Easy_Rider_Mod.module file in your Dawn of War Folder. Edit as follows with notepad then save.

In the .module file the current lines lines read like this:

RequiredMod.1 = W40K
RequiredMod.2 = WXP

Change them to read like this if you wish it to use winter assault as default:

RequiredMod.1 = WXP
RequiredMod.2 = W40K

Cheers,

Mudflap
