Wizer1 From: (Forest Grove) Joined: April 18th, 2006 Posts: 1 | Ya... I have played this on my laptop (AMDAthlon3200,1gigRAM,ATIx200) versus my desktop (AMDAthlonFX55,2gigRAM,7800GT) and the preformance difference is phenominal. You really need to turn everything up to fully appreciate this game. It scales well but when you crank up the bodies it really just adds a whole new meaning to the game, especially if you love turtling! (not that I do but whatev). It also doesn't use very much RAM so you should be able to get by with 1 gig (not with FEAR or Quake4!! They use it all...)
On an important note, it will actually run decently on computers below that level. My old laptop (1.1 ghz p3, 512 RAM, and some 64mb (might have been 32, probably32) vid card would actually run it. Granted it was pretty bad and whenever I did multiplayer I had about a 30% chance of crashing before finishing the game. But, it never crashed when I played single player. (And this was a laptop, so heat = issue) And usually only crashed when I wasn't using the little heating pad.
Anyways I am just saying this game (plus oblivion) is enough reason to upgrade so I would recommend at least a 6800GT, 1 gig RAM, Athlon3200 (or whatever you would consider intels equivalant) to appreciate the graphics in this game. |

Messiah882001 From: (Northants) Joined: July 7th, 2006 Posts: 19 | there rarely is a maximum requirement for a game, only game that i've ever come across that you need a low spec machine to run is Alien Versus Predator1. The silly thing though with game is if i lower the quality of the graphics then well the game crashes but if i turn everyhting on full and highest possible even the advanced options then well it works perfectly, this is the same for doom 3 on ultra high qaulity no lag however on low quality it crashes. strange games. |

kai121 From: (Helensburgh) Joined: May 6th, 2005 Posts: 30 | Your system has 256mb of ram, but your graphics card is an integrated 32MB of RAM meaning itll show at roughly 223-225MB of RAM. its playable as long as your card supports T&L but you'll experience lag ingame.
(P.S. their is a chance the game may not allow itself to run if it checks and finds less than 256 of RAM, unfortunately integrated cards can be annoying this way. I ended up upgrading my system because of this) |

mail2wildthing Joined: May 17th, 2007 Posts: 1 | My specs are:
1.4Gzh Processor
512 RAM
64Mb VRAM
The specs say that this will let me run DOW, but not the expansion packs? Is there any way to get around this? Its just that i saw that the DOW specs fitted, so i ordered the Anthology, but ive now found out tht the min specs for Processor speed are higher... will it still work? Or will i not be able to use Winter assault or Dark Crusade?
Would be really greatful if i could get a reply... |

Vladswell From: (Pennsylvania) Joined: December 9th, 2006 Posts: 21 | I got me two gigs(2x 1gb) of ram....huge, I know.
Yet the only thing I need to play demanding games is a good processor and a better video card.
Bought ram first because it's much cheaper and it's pretty fast now.
Video card: None really cause it's onboard....Nvidia GeForce 6150 LE Garbage.
Processor: Okay I guess Amd Athlon 64 2.2GHZ |
pilgrim45 Joined: August 8th, 2008 Posts: 1 | Sooooo, I want to run Dawn of War on my laptop. Requirements are;
Operating System: Windows® 98SE/2000/XP/ME
Processor: 1.8 GHz Intel Pentium III or equivalent AMD Athlon XP processor
RAM: 256 MB RAM
Hard Drive: 2.5 GB free hard drive space
CD-ROM: 4x CD-ROM drive
Video Card: 32 MB DirectX 9.0b compatible AGP video card with Hardware Transform and Lighting
CD-ROM: DirectX 9.0b compatible sound card, 16-bit
I match or exceed everything, except for my 1.6 Ghz processor. Will trying to play this fry my laptop? |
pappa_jones777 From: (New South Wales) Joined: April 5th, 2010 Posts: 1 | i spent a little while removing un-needed files and programs off an un used desk top pc my girl friend had, loaded dawn of war on and then went to play the game only to find that the pc had the required 'every thing' but was lacking 7mb of minimal ram to run the game.
i used to play it on my own laptop but soulstorm made it crash to many times, this laptop has 'died' (nothing to do with games, more like an abussive owner) so i now play it on my girl friends laptop.
seems to run ok and haven't had any problems except the fact that i have to share the laptop with her.
i spose the morale of the story is make sure the hardware you are going to use exceeds the greatest requirements of the game including ALL the expasions and subsequent sequels
