Bloodthirsty and vicious, the Orks are ferocious berserkers. If they were unified in their villainy, the Orks would soon crush all opposition. Fortunately for Humanity, these warring degenerates are just as likely to attack one another, as they are to invade an Imperial planet.
However, once the Orks set their teeth into a planet's jugular, it is almost impossible to dislodge them. The Orks are heavily armed with crude, but highly effective weapons, vehicles and equipment and, as combatants unlucky enough to get up close to the Orks' front lines soon learn, these barbarians also excel at hand-to-hand combat.
The mainstays of the Ork army are the boyz; they are the standard Ork fighting unit. The two most common variants are the Slugga Boyz, who carry choppas, large ax-like weapons, and sluggas, the Ork equivalent of a pistol, and the Shoota Boyz, who are armed with larger versions of the slugga and can lay down more fire, and wreak more havoc, on the battlefield.
Bigger and more powerful than the Ork boyz, the Nobz are battle-hardened veterans filled with unquenchable bloodlust and consumed by the desire to decimate their enemies. In combat, a Nob Squad is one of the most lethal close combat units in the Universe.
All Orks, from Nobz to Boyz constantly seek out battle, because exposure to combat increases an Ork's strength and size. As Orks age and become more powerful, their green hides grow darker. On any Ork battlefield and the biggest and darkest Ork is the undisputed leader. This is the Warboss.
Exclusive to Dawn of War: Winter Assault, are the Ork Mega Armored Nobz. Possessed with all the bloodthirsty ferocity and experience of a veteran Nob, Mega Armored Nobz are heavily armored killing machines that can shrug off the most troubling blow. A surge of power allows the normally slow-footed Nobz to rush into the thick of battle.
The stench of battle is irresistible to an Ork, and a skirmish will always draw increasing numbers of Orks, but it takes the arrival of the Warboss to give focus to the churning masses of Boyz and Nobz. It is his leadership that turns the Orks into a savage storm of destruction.

I think it might be so you cant have too many types of orks earlier on in the game. so the enemy dont get pummeled.
But orks are excellent in rushes.
i was playing a 4 vs 4 on the net and everyone on the one side was playing as orks. they kicked my teams asss. They kept coming and coming. My space marines killed 200+ of orks. not including my team mates kills. But in the end we were versing 3 squiggoths and a couple of killer kans. |

Posts: | i played the cadian gate mod and fought 2 ork bots on high with one cadian ally bot also and only becuase of the bassilisks did my team live they pumped out around 100 or so orks in the time it took to kill em at the end i lost about 50 or so while the total of the enemys losses where around 2000+s orks shouldnt be allowed to get close to you they would murder your infantry with a squad if they got the upper hand
thats why when playing against orks always always use spacemarine squads with heavybolters |

Posts: 104 | Ya the ork resource really screwed up the orks. I dont know what relic was thinking when they decided to do this. Thats why I normaly dont play as orks. Otherwise orks are pretty cool they're more comical. |

Wats u Shootin Our BRUVA fer then BOSS?' Howls Chav #3. 'CUZ I WANTS DA CIGGY!' roars Chav#1 ' Im a head bigga than u anyways!' Continues Chav #1. 'NOT IF I BLOW IT OFF UR SHOULDERS! WAAAAAGGGGGHHHHHHH!' Chav#3 shoots Chav#1 though the head, and all the Chavs go insane, in a cigarette fueled frenzy, as they hack each other to pieces to fuel their addiction. 2 chavs remain, struggling with each other, over the lit cigarette. one manages to get out a flickknife, and stabs the other in the gut. The other, recoiled in pain, and slumped into a bush, to die. Suddenly, the Grot/Runt of the group,who had been waiting in the shadows, leaped up on the remaining Chav and stabbed him repeatedly in the neck, while screaming in triumph. Once the Chav was dead, the runt gleefully leaped over to the lit cigarette and put it between his lips. Nothing. Enraged, the runt looked at the cigarette. it had burnt out, during the fight. 'Awww' Sulked the runt/grot, and slunk off into the night.
Does any of this remind you of orkish behavior? i thought orks behaved like this, not CHAVS/ the dominant type of agressive teenager. |
