Quote:Good Day of the Emperors Ascension to you all. The Imperial Fleet, or the Battlefleet Gothic Mod Team has been working exceptionally hard this year, and I'd like to personally thank my team and all those who helped with ideas, without you I'd probably of never got this project off the ground.
Special thanks to Kadaeux, who has shown us all that he is an exceptional modeller, powering through those models like a Khorne Bezerker in a Butchers, and almost completing every race on his own. I'd also like to thank Thud, for assisting me in recruitment and general modding help, without you I wouldn't of got Kadaeux..or any of the other millions of workers you've sent us who seem to disappear. [Its Homeworld...traitors].
And I think I have an apology to make, to the community. Sorry for always saying 'Release soon', when there never actually is a release. I am not lying to you, this is what the various members seem to say to me, but due to fate, the release is delayed [One of our coders going missing for example, or being hacked]. Sorry for this, and one thing I can promise is that this mod will not die. Even if I'm on my own, I will finish it.
Thank you, and have an excellent Christmas with your loved ones.
Heretic, hope you had a great Christmas as well. When this mod is out, it is going to We appreciate all the time and hard work that you, Thud, and Kadaeux and anyone else who has given to this mod. We will wait and thanks again.

WTF is up with NOT REPORTING STEEL LEGIONS FOR DC when it was out, ohhh, 6 DAYS AGO?!?! Meanwhile, when our v2.60 Advanced Skirmish AI is released do you guys NOT watch all the major community threads? Now I see this thread twiddling my thumbs wondering where the DoW community reporting priorities are.
Jeezz.. DoWfiles staff please honestly GET WITH IT and be the journalists we expect.
Of course not to belittle this BFG announcement but considering we're all wondering on other news that should have been more front-and-center, I seriously have to question to which your reporters are working based on the scope of what happened on Dec 24th for this amazing community. Lets get going guys! Shheshhh!

Thud, not sure if you remember me, but the DoWfiles team doesn't always check up on major DoW sites such as relic news for instance, which explains why they would not know.
Im not exactly sure, but i am guessing the present DoWfiles team only posts news that are sent to their inbox, so the news might not been sent to them regarding the steel legion update.
Also remember that this is a volunteer job. Me and Tempest (old DoWfiles staffers) used to browse through all the community sites looking for any news regarding mods or so, because we had the time to do that, while the present team may not. Also with Ronnie posting the news (his one of the filefront admins), it seems that the news poster is likely AWOL or something.
..then how did this BFG announcement and other somewhat minor announcements get posted yet the MOST CRITICAL and widely advertised releases don't? Thats absurd. It was clearly evident on relicforums that SL for DC was HUGE ! I even posted it to dowfiles.com as a news submission 2-3 days ago -- guess what, WHERE IS IT? Shheshh... if you can't even get reporters to quickly cover the BIG NEWS and yet the little blurbs get on here then WTF? Whats the point? This is a massive disservice to this fantastic community and needs resolution ASAP before it falls further into the abyss.
Hell.. how long will it take before you guys report on our mega launch of 2.60 (pre-SoulStorm) Advanced AI release? I wonder...

Thud, you need to calm down. Like I said these guys do it on their own time, and don't say that this is a service that must they commit to, because just like modders - real life gets in the way of things. Now this volunteer work may not be perfect, but hell, give them a break man; at least someone in this community is willing to give up their time to spent on this website posting news and files.

@Thud...sorry? I'm asking myself the same question now...why this and not that? Maybe its the fact that there seems to only be one staff member around.
..there aren't enough staffers then. Should get new blood in here as the community will demand it as SoulStorm approaches and passes.

#7 is right, they really only post stuff that is sent to them. If you want to see news on all the mods, then send them in yourselfand the team will post them up.
Anyway, Happy New Year all, and good luck with your mod!
#14 - I already sent them all details on SL for DC.. - 12-31-2007 at 07:50
@Droids_Rule - but again nothing gets posted. This is the usual deal around here for quite some time. This site needs 1-3 reporters to ensure news gets posted asap otherwise whats the point? Losing valuable time and interest from the community + mod teams want to see the community get their work and play it.
Again, I submitted for SL for DC 3-4 days ago and nothing yet. Bah!

I perfectly understand your frustration, Thudo. I downloaded the mod off of Relic forums a day or two after it was released, and it's a blast. It's one of the best DC mods currently out, right up there with the likes of the Inquisition Daemonhunt, TTRU and Witch Hunter mods. However, I'm not sure this is the right way to go about addressing the issue. The purpose of comments is to post personal reflections on the file or news item in question. You're essentially hijacking the comments for this announcement.
Again, I agree with you on this issue. It wouldn't hurt for them to just post a quick news brief with a link to the Relic forums thread. It's just that you might want to stick to notifying the site admins (repeatedly if needed) via email. Better yet, you can spread the word on your filefront forum thread. I'm sure if they get a flood of email from multiple people, the mod will be posted soon enough.
Guess I should have looked at the new downloads today. There you go, Thudo. Problem solved
Best of luck on your mod, The Heretic. I've always been intrigued by this mod. I look forward to playing it when it's released, whenever that may be (by all means take your time; it'll be more polished that way).

I hope this Mod will work well, but wouldnt it have been a better idea to design it on the Homeworld Engine & just alter the Ship Designs?
I dunno......... I'm a Rocker not a Modder!!
Good luck guys!!
Theres already a great homeworld mod.
And, I don't have homeworld.

It is excessivly difficult to mod homeworld, the best u can do is replace models, but even then its really crappy. dow is soooooo much easier to mod than many other RTS games i have seen, so i think we should give em a break.
but i would like to see some chaos models from BFG. maybe a desolator battleship or a deamonically possessed Cruiser
