Well the team and I have been working incredibly hard lately, in an attempt to head towards a base for further coding, and the addition of some new races.
Well, I can safely say that this goal has been achieved, I received the beta earlier this week and am now commencing testing and refinement for the two races included; Orks and Imperial Navy. Of course, we won't be releasing a public beta - as we want to make sure it's perfect and that you get the full experience.
Secondly; some race progress.
Heres another fleet we have planned, probably one of the ones we have planned which you guys wouldn't of guessed...the Adeptus Mechanicus. Special thanks to Jianaran for his help on the ideas, and here is a brief summary of the way the race will be played:
Introducing the Adeptus Mechanicus.

No structures, to suit the idea of an 'explorator fleet' The player would start with an 'Ark Mechanicus', which would then be used to search the map of technology, akin to the soul resource in the manner of it being collected. When enough resources are collected, the player gains access to other ships, which are called off map. To represent this, 'interest' is the second resource, almost like the necron resource. More research you buy, the more interest you gain - and the better ships you get.
Essentially, this will make the Adeptus Mechanicus a completely different faction, exploring and discovering lost technology to level up. Completely unique, I must say.
They only have a few ships, but where they lack in numbers, they pack a massive amount of armour. Players of the Adeptus Mechanicus will have to constantly be moving, and use micromanagement to their advantage, as it'll be a stupid player indeed to attempt to stay put and defend.
It's nice to see that their are achieving some goals for this mod. However this mod has been in progress for quite some time now. DOW2 is going to be out in the near future and it is a sure bet this mod will still not be complete nor released. I am sure you want to dish out a final good product but at this point this mod seems to have little fanbase now for it and come time of the release very few will probably be willing to convert back to old DoW just to play a mod. I do wish the best of luck on your continued efforts and from what I've seen from the progress so far you've all done a really good job. Like I said before though took too long :[

RedFacti0n, If you were to check out these guy's RelicNews thread, you'd notice they have quite a decent sized fanbase. (and more than 84,000 views)
Ever since I found the DoW Mod sections on that site, (and the occasional updates he gives on this one) I was hooked. Anyone who cares about the mod will play it whenever it's ready. Just because the super awesome amazing DOW2 is coming out, doesn't mean people will uninstall DoW1. I know I won't.
(ps. Hai Heretic! kthx for super micro race! I hope they make the Eldar look like slugs. )

Can you honestly say you read the post fully, including reading between the lines? The mod is in beta stages, and by beta - I don't mean bug testing, I mean further refinements and additions. Sure, it takes a long time to mod a game. But imagine how long it would take to create an almost brand new game from an engine, with things deemed impossible by many. We're not making a new race, we're making nine, a full campaign, and major additions to the game engine.
Also; DoW2 mod support is highly unlikely. We're unsure on what to do with DoW2 as of now.
Remember people, mods take time, especially total conversions with the worst luck in existence.
give these guys a break, i mean this has been one of those things which is completely different and will generate days of playin by the sounds of it. and its very easy to criticise the long wait weve had to bear for this mod/conversion. but if you are so happy to basically slag there efforts off as too slow then i would like to see you do a better job than them!
Nothing is better than the Adeptus Mechanicus! It would be great to have a mod about them in DoW2. I can only hope this mod will be downloadable from the net.
