New Renegade / Lost & the Damned Mod Announced - Mod News

A new Lost & the Damned Mod is coming together to be released for DC.
I'm not sure of the mod is called the Renegade Mod or the Lost & the Damned Mod as the news was emailed to me with the subject: "Renegades mod announced" but the content says "Lost and the damned mod" so I'm stumped as to the Official name, but rest assured, it will be about the Lost and the Damned Marines who were lost in the Warp around the time of the Horus Heresy. (For more information about the L&TD consult your W40K Rulebook or assorted Games Workshop publications)
hey there, Fend here
just dropping by to anounce that here at (newly assembled) Lost and the damned mod, weve put together a content list and are looking to recruit an avid team of modelers, skinners, animators and various others - who want to see hoards of traitors, mutants and deamons rampaging across the dawn of war gameworld done justice
weve decided to go for a combined feel of Imperial Adversaries from Deamonhunters and Witchhunters codex (This means Apostate Cardinals and Tainted Psykers - ala forgeworld) and ofcourse the lost and the damned list. takeing the focus of a single strong chaos heritor, and putting the theme more towards "the creeping taint of chaos" within the imperium.
We plan to inlcude the following -
- We liked the steel legion mods pioneers and wanted the same gritty feel. tho we will most likely name them field engineers to avoid treading on SL's toes.
Apostate Cardinal with pontifex Retinue
- He functions much like an etheral with a bodygaurd. But his death doesnt route the army. he has alot of abilities that rally and raise leadership. and his pontifex gaurds are badarse in melee.
- large numbers, low cost, poor ranged damage but can have hvy stubbers and flamers. Later in you can devote certain mutant warrens to specific chaos gods and train "blessed" mutants.
- basic traitor gaurd (ala forgeworld) that can be lead by agitators and have plenty of weapon options but low leadership (without the agitator). Can infiltrate and make use of chimeras and sniper rifles to name a few options.
Tier 2 -
3 can be built, each can be devoted to a different god and bestow bonus's upon the squads theyre attached too. Depending on their god they have different gear, statistics and abilities. Later in they can be used as Deamon hosts.
semi demonic beast cavlary used to scout and quickly tie up ranged units.
a mass melee unit (similar to rippers in the Nid mod) which reinforce as quickly as they die. used mostly to tie up units attacking strat points while reinforcments get sent.
Big mutants OR Ogryn beserkers
- Only one or the other can be fielded. Oggy beserkers are fearless and like to throw units around in melee and do alot of bloody death moves. While Big mutants have alot more options (like guns and regeneration)
And ofcourse vehicals such as the Chimera, Hellhound, Sentinal and Defiler.
Instead of a basilisk tho they can use Medusa artillery - which later with a shrine of nurgle (explained later) can fire shells full of gas. strong against infantry and commanders, but weak versus heavy infantry and vehicals. but its very deadly and - code willing - may spawn plague zombies .
Tier 3 -
Tainted Psyker -
basically the teams sorcerer. has some very powerful abilities but if they backfire he has a chance of being transformed into a chaos spawn.
Chaos Spawns -
In squads of 1 to 5. Great for soaking up damage and are fearless and good in melee but slow. they work more like a roadhump.
Now for the good part
Weve made strategic points an essential part of the team (to represent the spreading of the cultism) as each one you capture you get to raise an icon over. at tier 2 you can upgrade it to a tribute (which builds gibbering hoards and Steadily degrades the morale of anyone in a radius around it) and at tier 3 you can choose to turn the tribute into a shrine of a specific chaos god. The shrine trains an Icon bearer devoted to that god - (you can have one for each shrine) - which functions as a mobile barracks for Deamon packs (which can be summoned for cash and cooldown) yes we are includeing all the chaos gods deamonic infantry.
Most exciteingly tho were going to fix Horrors. When you kill a pink one, 2 Blue ones will appear in the squad to reinforce it. Better still you can add up to three flamers of Tzeentch to the squad as a champion.
aswell as that tho the icon bearers provide bonus's to the squads they join like an aspireing champion does.
3rd tier vehicals are going to be Malcador tanks and Leman russ.
best thing is tho the choice of Relic units We may mod in that chaos can have acess to all of them aswell (its only fair) but Lost and the damned will have a choice of either the Great unclean one, the keeper of secrets, the changer of ways or ofcourse the bloodthirster of khorne.
anyway thats our plan, and i hope you all like it. Any assistance that we could gather - even part time - would be great. I worked on the BF40k mod so the team has acess to experianced tutors and i know some experianced coders who can also help.

sorry for the pun, but i'm not hopeful. there've been lots of LATD mods and not one has ever got far.
thinking about it, there've been loads of Chaos mods in general.

sorry for the vagueness - there is actually only 2 or 3 chaos marine units in the army in total (aspiring champions, Defilers and Possibly the Icon bearers) so just clearing that up.
I think your refering to the Legion of the damned mod number #4
The mods going to bring about a focus on the traitor legions and mutants that rise up within the rebellion under the sponsorship of the darker powers - and ofcourse - introduce non 40k players to the other elements that make up the total forces of chaos.
Im already receiving emails - thank you guys! - but rest assured , resources willing, im going to attempt to hold this mod together like the glue that i am.
I am unaware of anyother LATD mods, and Even tho this isnt going to be a chaos marine faction mod - we will allow them the ability to choose a chaos god to get their deamonic units from (and relic unit) rather than just horrors.
Anyway, keep them coming anyone who even considers helping should email me for more info or opportunities. its all apreciated!

Ive talked with one of the coders who signed up and were thinking of makeing a "proxy mod" first. getting all the systems down and in so its a rough and dirty version of the mod for internal purposes.
this way we can playtest the whole thing before adding the asthetics in - were going to need some damn good animators if we can get them to do the mutants tentical action justice.
We need a forum guy to get something up and running for us to discuss , plan and activly mod tho. im no good with webbing, so im hopeing someone who knows their stuff can join up soon if only to provide that input.
As for the mod itself, the only units that are staying in should be the Pink horror and defiler. everything else should either be built off old models (to save on animateing) or originally modeled. This is in regards to the russ and chimera. Well need a new sentinal to support different weaponry. basically they will just be more spikey and iconised.
anyway, well do what we can to make this mod a good one.

|legion of the damned about a chapter of space marines named the fire hawks who were lost in the warp. now theyre somewhat super natural, but only seem to show up in the imperiums darkest hours to turn the tide. |

|If its the legion of the dammed their a space marine chapter not chaos they aid space marines when in trouble then disappear if im not mistaken.Eye witness reports say there skin have rotted they are suspected to be of the dammed 21st founding chapters after the horus heresy not quite sure if they have daemons on their team because there on the imperiums side not sure because i dont collect them on table top |
