The 10 page PDF file describes how you can create, publish, and play on a basic map. The document also clarifies how you can correctly place objects, set properties, and view impass maps.
I know this is kinda late, Relic has decided to put up a beta testing for their DoW II update - There is Only War - for everyone who owns DoW II for free! This allows players to have a chance to put in their input regarding the game changes and the new maps that are going to be fully implemented by Relic. Not only that, this allows mappers to have a hands on testing on the new map tools Relic is releasing with the update. Not trying to be a Relic fanboi, but you gotta admit its pretty awesome of Relic, no?
Anyway, here is a quick step by step for you to get started on this whole testing business!
Quote:You will need to restart your Steam client in order to opt-in to the beta
Open Steam, click on File, select Settings, then under the Account tab, click on the ‘Change…’ button under ‘Beta participation’. Click on the dropdown menu and scroll to find ‘Dawn of War II ‘There is Only War Update’
Click on the OK button to start downloading the files that will turn your retail Dawn of War II installation into the Dawn of War 2 ‘There is Only War’ Beta.
The Beta period will run until Tuesday, July 14th, 2009 to account for the delay.
Now – ‘THERE IS ONLY WAR’!
…seriously, its officially up. Stop reading… play the game.

There should have been the option of "I don't care".
This entire thing is too giberish, childish and euphoric.
#11 - Posted by: TDATL (Member) on 06-30-2009 at 08:35
"This entire thing is too giberish, childish and euphoric."
That sentence is practically gibberish. Please work on expanding your thoughts until they make sense to other people.
Your "I don't care" answer is also already up there. It is "Meh, I'm not a mapper."
#12 - Posted by: Disease_61 (Member) on 06-30-2009 at 14:43
Thats really not the same thing as i don't care.
Basiclly all the answers are for people who like DoW 2.
"I don't care" would be an answer for people who don't like DoW 2.
#13 - @ tdatl,sorry for double - Posted by: Majestic_XII (Member) on 06-30-2009 at 18:01
Yeah,i have been awaiting a response like this.It is common sense to relic fan boyiz
The problem with the poll is that, while being not serious mapper,I do not like DoW2.
The poll is giberish on the side of those who dont like dow2.
#14 - Posted by: TDATL (Member) on 07-01-2009 at 12:14
"The poll is giberish on the side of those who dont like dow2."
No, the poll is enthusiastic. Map tools coming out is a good thing. It is treated just like all good news on fan sites will be. I myself dislike (quite a lot) the changes DoW2 made. That ship has long sense left port. Let it go.
I fail to see how grumbling about good things happening to other people does anyone any good.
You might be aware that there is a problem with the downloads at the moment.
Files are returning a 404 page not found error.
The FileFront tech team are working on this as we speak and hopefully things will be fixed very soon.
We apologies for any problems you may have using the sites during this time. This issue is also affecting staff adding files so if you have a file waiting then please be patient.
If you know the name of the file you can search for it on the new FileFront site FileFront Main Site
As soon as the issue is fixed we will update this to let you all know.
Again our apologies for any inconvenience.
Goody
FileFront Network Administrator.
UPDATE
It looks like it is all fixed. If you are still having problems downloading a file then please post here.
Great work guys
UPDATE 2
New files are still returning to a 404 but the older files are working now.
Again we know about this so there is no need to post to let us know.
The Tech Team are working on this.
To report any other faults then please use the Forums.
Thank You
The community links on every Network site has been compromised and they redirected to a illegal warez site.
We have corrected this but unfortunately we could not recover the links to restore them. As a result all of the links have been deleted to protect the people who sent the original links into us.
While this could be seen to be a set back we are taking the view that although this has caused all the staff some extra work it is still a good time for a fresh start as some of the links were probably dead ones.
Some site managers have already started restoring known links on there sites
We would like you to either resubmit any link you had on your chosen site and submit new ones.
You can find the link in the left menu under "The Community"
This is not the affiliates but the links. Here is a example

File Reviewers (x2)(There will be a 1 month trial period, if you work well then you will be offered the role)

The duties of a file reviewer are to download and playtest submitted files, write a reasonable review of playtested files, and ensure that they are validated onto the site within a reasonable timeframe. Reviews should assess submitted mods keeping both the modding and gameplay sides in focus.
Additional Notes:
An understanding of how mods work is preferable, as it enables the reviewer to offer more specific feedback. Naturally a good writing style is beneficial, since the best kind of reviews are ones that educate and entertain.

So hopefully sooner or later you will see my work finished.

Being ex federal law enforcement, I think I might consider calling the CDC, as well as the IRS. Let's face it, that kind of exchange would fit you in for a HUGE capital gains tax. Show me a 10-99 and the last seven years of tax returns and maybe we'll talk. lol.

Would be great.
#11 - Posted by: ghostie0013 (Member) on 06-13-2009 at 05:35
Yeah, most people wouldn't look at it financially, but I've seen the IRS in action. If you've got a problem that you're unsure you can handle, despite being armed with a vast assortment of assault weaponry and with a large complement of trained professionals, call the IRS. They'll step in and crawl up the offensive idiot's *** with an electron microscope, take everything, including the clothes off his back, and finish it out by reminding the individual they STILL have to deal with the ones carrying the guns. lol
#12 - Posted by: ghostie0013 (Member) on 06-13-2009 at 06:26
Also, as an afterthought.. Perhaps I should have mentioned my first wife was a CPA and I'm currently dating a tax attorney.
#13 - Posted by: PSIN (Member) on 06-13-2009 at 10:40
I voted for the merger. Oddly enough I've come to consider that the daemon might take the opportunity to describe it's tax audit for eternity, and now regret my decision. I'd like to change my vote to bolt to the face. His or mine, it doesn't matter as long as it avoids the alternative.
#14 - Posted by: CornCobb (Member) on 06-13-2009 at 14:10
Hi-Five sounds like a good idea to me! But I mainly play Tau who I think can't be affected by the warp. Oh well, suppose I'd have to die then.

I chop of his head and destroy the universe myself
Relic has announced that the ‘There is Only War’ includes the official release of World Builder, the Dawn of War II map editor. Once the update is released, players can create, edit, and play on their own community-created battlefields.
What can I do?
World Builder lets you add victory points, power nodes, and requisition points under Urban, Desert, Tyrannoformed, and Jungle map tilesets. You can deform terrain, place cover objects, choose the weather, and define the size of the map. Maps can be released for two, four, or six players.
How do I use it?
When released, World Builder can be opened from the local DOW2 directory. It will also include a sample map and a documentation file explaining how to publish a basic map for online play. It is recommended to run World Builder on a PC that handles Dawn of War II on ‘high’ or ‘ultra’ graphics settings.
When is it released?
World Builder is yet another part of themassive ‘There is Only War’ update coming out later this summer, and will be available when the beta goes live in early July.
Sounds Awesome!
The tool is being released to further open Dawn of War II to the modding community, to give fans the ability to contribute new content and increase the longevity of multiplayer. Relic is looking forward to see what the community has to contribute, and can’t wait to see them being played.
Just when you thought DoW II wouldn't receive any map/mod support, Relic totally catches the community off guard and teases us with a screenshot of a Map Editor! Holy shit, amright!?
Looks like things are picking up with DoW II; with the new content pack, and with the incoming map editor it will surely add to the longevity of the game due to community maps, just as it has done with DoW I (they still keep coming after 5 or so years!). I encourage everyone to show your support to Relic, not for simply responding to the community, but for simply being an awesome Developer that actually cares about its community and releasing awesome products. Thanks Relic!
Here’s an exclusive Battle Report narrated by Jonny Ebbert, the lead designer on Dawn of War II, and Clint Tasker, a DOW II balance designer. The 24 minute video uses the new observer feature to showcase a battle between Colin “Hamu” Hamilton, a Tyranid player, and Braden “bC” Chan who plays as Eldar. The battle takes place on Outer Reaches, a two-player map designed to be an homage to a map from the original Dawn of War game.
Jonny and Clint reveal balance changes, unit updates, and new strategies introduced in the ‘There is Only War’ update. They also explain how tier-1 pacing has been adjusted to make the early game more interesting to play.
The video is also available on Steam to download, if you want to view a 720p, 745 MB high-resolution version of the action.
The video shows how ‘There is Only War’ brings diversity to unit roles between armies, and introduces strategies that players can use to directly counter an opposing force. We’re excited to roll out ‘There is Only War’ and know you’ll love the update once you get your hands on the Beta.
This is the first of two Developer Battles we’ll be posting this week. The next video will showcase Space Marines against Orks. Keep checking the site to find out how you can participate in the ‘There is Only War’ Beta launching later this summer.
Also guys, do you have some questions for the designers after watching the new developer battle? Send them on in via a private message to Thunder in the DoW II official forums and your question may be selected to be answered by designers Clint Tasker and Jonny Ebbert in a future interview. Deadline for submissions is noon PDT, June 24.

...to be a staff member here ?
Have you ever been looking over your favourite game site and thought that you could really help out ?
If the answer is yes then we would like to hear from you. We are now recruiting staff for all sites and hopefully some new ones.
Some of our sites are fully staffed at the moment but don't let that stop you from applying to join our very friendly team here.
If your preferred site is fully staffed you will still be contacted to see if you could help out on a different site. We will still pass your details on to the site manager for that site just incase they need a extra pair of hands.
So what do we need from you to join us. Well not much really to start with.
First you must be 16 or over and have regular Internet access.
You must have good understanding of English (this is for news items and so on)
You must own the game for the site/s you are applying for, with the ability to run custom content (for testing submitted files)
If your application is accepted then you will also be required to register on our forums and visit the staff section at least once a week as updates and requests are posted there.
To apply simply copy the below template into a email and send it of to network@filefront.com
Make sure you fill out the games section including the ones that we do not have sites for at the moment.
Gamereplays.org has an exclusive interview and video regarding DoW II!. Gamereplays.org was invited by Relic to check out their new observer mode for their upcoming content update and reaply functionality. This seems quiet fitting for a site that is built around replays and has fans upload and view constantly! It's actually a pretty cool update for the replay function that gives you a lot of info of their player's action throughout the game, so you will know what the pro's/otherplayer's build is at all times.
Finally, Bentguru, the Senion Gamecaster from the site, came to Relic's office to check out a build of the game with the update. You can check out the interview which has a compiled info on his trip.
Exciting news for DoW II players! This summer, Dawn of War II is going to receive a major update that adds tremendous value to the multiplayer experience through new features, major balance improvements, and new content.
A New Observer Feature
New Observer and Referee options let you watch custom multiplayer games as a spectator. With this new perspective, the Observer can easily monitor the entire battle with a detailed look at the status of all players.

Hey guys,
HorusHeretic is here to show you lot a quick preview about the mod.
Since Medes hasn't much time for modding any more, however Horusheretic is filling as modeler
He is also also pleased to announce that there is going to be an upcoming release for Dark crusade.... and sadly, it will be the last as the team moves on to Soul Storm.
A few things to fill you on for the upcoming release:
Updated hero Wargear, new units improved stability, updated ai and more
Here is something you can look forward too for Firestorm over Kaurava (SS)
I am pleased to announce a few promotions for the network.
Mr.Funsocks, the lovable, huggable Network Administrator has been promoted to Asst. Network Manager and will become my right hand dealing with issues that arise on FileFront's game sites.
Goody10 of soldier of fortune files has been promoted to Network Administrator. FFxStalkerx of stalker files has been promoted to Network Administrator. Guyver3212 of WoWFiles has been promoted to Network Administrator.
The above three have shown fierce determination in ensuring that the network thrives and pushes forward. When it came to the need to add some fresh faces to fill in those ranks, it certainly wasn't easy to sift through all of the staff who easily deserve such recognition of their hard work, but these three came out on top and I'm sure you will see great things happen with them lurking about.
Congrats to all of you. Each and every one of you has earned this and should be proud!

I would say that the voices are really good, but the Gretchin narrator for the Orks drops my vote to the somewhat good level.

They are ok, but DOW is still slightly better. But, i will always remember that one line thaddeus said. "they must be saved!!!" the way he delivered that line will always make me laugh.
oh yeah and at the end of DOWII when the poison sets in
Gaurdsmen: YEAH!, alrighth!! yeah!!
hehehe gold.

On par with dow 1,eventhough:
Eldar are better in dow 2 except for the avatar
SM are better in dow 2 excpect for the apothecary and FC
Orks are good in dow2 except for their narrator and some units.(I miss my flash gitz)
Tyranids are as good as necrons in dow dc were.
Dow 1 had more untis and those already there were good,
DoW1 beats Dow 2 in terms of quantity of voices but nevertheless,DoW1=DoW2
#6 - Posted by: Jaon (Member) on 06-05-2009 at 00:06
dow 2 needed more units
i was looking forward to maybe some sternguard and vanguard but NO
um
i think they are absolutely terrible im sorry, theres no excuse for the ork narrator, some of the space marines sound like mere teenagers, its just not right.

I thought the voice acting was pretty decent, probably not as good as the first DoW but decent nonetheless. Tarkus' voice was fitting as was Avitus', however I think Thaddeus ended up sounding kind of annoying but I think that was kind of what they were shooting for.
#10 - Posted by: ghostie0013 (Member) on 06-06-2009 at 07:49
I'm going to agree with Ronald. Tarkus and Avitus capture the zealous quality of a space marine, as does Cyrus. Cyrus adds in the cynical jabs of a veteran who's accepted the fight is going to make little difference in the overall scheme of things. Thaddeus, however, just reminds me a little bit of a teenager that has just been caught sneaking back in the house after having snuck out, and is trying to come up with a plausible explanation of his whereabouts. I really wish they'd done more with the apothecary and techmarine.
#11 - Posted by: Ronald_Jesch (Member) on 06-06-2009 at 22:03
There really wasn't a whole lot the voice actors for Gorian and the Techmarine could do, seeing as how they didn't get very much dialogue at all. I wish they made them playable characters in campaign or at least made missions involving them as characters.
#12 - Posted by: chaoslordx13 (Member) on 06-09-2009 at 16:00
would have been cool if you could eventually upgrade to either a apothecary or techmarine in campaign, would have made allot of people happy.
#13 - Posted by: Neverhoodian (Member) on 06-10-2009 at 12:08
Overall, I'd say they did a good job with the voices. No real complaints with the Space Marines and Eldar. Tyranids don't talk, so they're largely exempt (though the Hive Mind voice could stand to be a bit more menacing). My one big complaint is the Orks. I don't mind the gretchin announcer, but I wish the units were a bit more bombastic and lippy like the Orks in the first DoW. They don't bellow at the top of their lungs so much anymore, and they aren't as funny as they used to be. Their hilarious dialogue was one of the reasons why I liked Orks so much in the first game.

ok guys just 2 thing to say...
I didn't hear nothing on relic or thq rumors of dow II can anyone explain them to me..
second...and most important one...
just stop, STOP saying that dow II is worse or better than dow I..
you just can't compare these 2 games...STOP please saying that dow 1 has moer units of dow II.
diw I is made for battles and for enemy annihilation and for...basically big battles
dow II is made for strategic combination and strategic war planning and...it is just a game of tactics and intelligence...it has fewer units to make it a undisscussble balanced game...you just can't discuss the balancing of dow II and you just can't compare the two games because they are just to different games and have nothing to do with each other except the units....so please stop saying one is better one is worse they are just nerd affirmations that mean nothing..
BASICALLY YOU CAN PLAY WHAT YOU LIKE MORE AND JUST LEAVE THE ONES WHO PLAY ANOTHER GAME ALONE BECAUSE WITH DISCUSSION YOU DON'T OBTAIN NOTHING. JUST PLAY WHAT YOU ENJOY PLAYING!!!
